What is CHAS?

CHAS, or the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme, is one of the leading health and safety assessment schemes in the UK and a recognised member of the SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement). It is widely utilised to demonstrate health and safety competence and compliance to various buyers, including many of the UK’s largest construction, utility, and business sectors.

CHAS Accreditation is available at three levels:

1. *Standard* (including SSIP)
2. *Advanced* (meets PAS91 requirements)
3. *Elite* (Common Assessment Standard)

If you already possess an SSIP from another organisation, such as SMAS or SafeContractor, it can be used to fulfill the core health and safety requirements for your CHAS application, potentially lowering your costs.
